A chance to hear all five test-pieces being played by British brass bands at regional contests throught the country during this spring.  The City of Chester Band has been invited to perform the Second Section test-piece: The Mermaid of Zennor by Philip Harper.  The NW Regional Finals take place in the Winter Gardens, Blackpool on Sunday 28 February 2016.

The City of Chester Band invites you to an open rehearsal place in the Board Room at Weaver Hall Museum, Northwich, CW9 8AB. They will be finalising the test piece, The Mermaid of Zennor, in preparation for NW Regional Brass Band Championships (2nd Section) the following day in Blackpool. Ewan Easton MBE has recently been appointed as the band Musical Director. Ewan is Principal Tuba with the Hallé Orchestra and Tutor in Tuba at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. A day of music-making, mild excitement and drama as bands from all over the north west region play to qualify for the national finals in September (all sections except Championship, who perform in London's Royal Albert Hall in October).  The City of Chester Band will be performing "The Mermaid of Zennor" by Philip Harper, the set piece for Second Section bands.
