2019 Solo Competition

Yesterday (Sunday 14th July) the training band held it's yearly Solo Competition , and yet again we held it at Aldford Village Hall and the gorgeous surroundings of the Duke's Estate. We had a great turnout with 14 training band and junior band members taking part. A lot of the players in the junior band have only been playing a small number of weeks and the sat in front of their families and other parents and played their hearts out which was great to see. as one of our eldest band members told me later " it makes my heart sing to hear the children playing". The winner of the junior band was Anne-Marie Wheldon, aged 8 1/2 who played "Au Clair de La Lune" has only been playing for 2 mths. The overall winner was Ryan Jones playing Jupiter, Ryan has been playing for 20 mths . The adjudicator for the day was Matthew Birkett who is the standin conductor for the main band and he was "very pleased with how the members of both band performed". The day finished off with a buffet and a game of cricket (haven't got a clue who won). Many thanks to Les Platt for the photos .
