Our 'Expert' Juniors made a special trip to the BBC Studios in Manchester last Thursday, to watch Leyland Championship Band record some tracks for the radio. Thanks to Leon Renilson for setting this up, the kids heard some fantastic playing, including a solo from Leon himself. This follows visits to Fodens rehearsal, and contact with other top bands, a feature of the Training Band development that it is planned to continue.
Next is a second contest workshop planned for June (date to be confirmed).
The City of Chester Band lead the St George's Day Scout Parade yesterday, Sunday 21st April. Joined by Christopher Clowes (on Euph) from the Training Band, and dep Alan Birch (Eflat Bass) from Wrexham Brass (was Rhos), the Senior Band made the most of a sunny morning, as they wound their way from the Castle Square through the City Streets to The Cathedral. The return march was lead by the Warrington Phoenix Band, with Chester following in mid procession.
The next march out in Chester will be The Lord Mayors Parade on Sat June 15th.
Additional rehearsal this week, Weds 20.30hrs, the rehearsal together with the Male Voice Choir. Church behind Est Est Est.

A very creditable 11th place was won on Sunday in the North West Regionals. With 174 points, Chester came 1tth out of the 19 bands competing, and are well placed in an estimated 9th place as we look towards next years event.
Playing without a first trombone, Baritone Paula Bell doubling many parts!, the band performed well, winning a positive summary from the adjudicator.
