Band Resigned To Its Fête(s)!
Thursday 30th Jun 2005, late morning
Chester’s own brass band – The City of Chester Band – has been out and about throughout the County of late, doing the rounds of various summer events. The Band’s youngsters, in the shape of the Training Band, have been particularly busy with appearances at Mickle Trafford, Huntington and Christleton Fêtes on consecutive weekends. The senior Band also put in an appearance at Christleton on Saturday June 25th, leading the parade to the school along with a motley collection of locals dressed as superheroes! Sunday the 26th saw the Band’s annual appearance at the Plemstall Well-Dressing, an event that, unlike last year, was blessed with good weather. July is another busy month for the Band, with a couple of particularly high profile events scheduled to take place. If you wish to see the Band in action then make a note in your diary of the following dates: Saturday 2nd – Saughall Village Fête. Wednesday 6th – Concert in Duddon Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm. Sunday 10th – The Band will be contributing to the City’s celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Saturday 16th – Lord Mayor’s Parade. Keep an eye out for both the senior Band and the Training Band. Details of all these events, information on how you can sponsor the Band, as well as lots more news and photographs can be found elsewhere on this award-winning web site.
