Contesting
Over the years Chester has competed at the highest levels, including a fabled visit to the Albert Hall (see photo right). More of this in our band history section as it builds over the coming years.
In recent years the band has had a quieter, up-and-down, period in contesting, dropping to the 4th section in 1999, promotion back to the 3rd section in 2002, and back to the 4th section for 2010.
Contesting really develops the ensemble playing within the band, and a good performance on the day excites both young and old. For more information on The City of Chester and contesting; contact Chris Peover.
One of the biggest challenges when contesting is meeting the cost of contest entrance fees together with the cost of travel to contests. Sponsorship is always welcome. Why not sponsor our next trip to the Regionals in March 2010 and then join us for the Finals in September!
